How the county funds it. The FY 2026-2027 approved budget (October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027, adopted with all five members of the Court voting for it) carries a "Veterans" department of $24,400: $15,750 for the appointed official, $3,650 of fringe benefits, $2,000 of office supplies and $3,000 for training and travel. FY 2025-2026 budgeted $20,750, and FY 2024-2025 spent $2,837. A county of under 200,000 people is not required to keep an officer (Government Code 434.032). TexVet.
