Denver Veterans Treatment Court

The Second Judicial District, which is Denver, runs a Veterans Treatment Court for veterans with criminal cases, with a coordinator and a veteran peer mentor programme. The district publishes no eligibility rules; ask the coordinator.

Also called: veterans court, veterans treatment court, VTC, 13-5-144, Second Judicial District, peer mentor, problem-solving court.

For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Second Judicial District's chief judge runs a veterans treatment court under C.R.S. 13-5-144; see the Colorado entry for how these courts work. The Judicial Branch's problem-solving court directory lists the Denver Veterans Treatment Court beside the district's adult treatment, felony DUI and youth and family courts. Who. Neither the directory nor the district's pages publish eligibility rules, a list of offences or a discharge test, and the court has no page of its own. Ask the coordinator, Lindsey Cupo ([email protected]), or the lead peer mentor coordinator, Derek Fader ([email protected], 303-606-2852), whether a case can be referred. A defence lawyer can raise a referral. Denver County Court, which Denver runs itself rather than the State, hears misdemeanours, so a misdemeanour case may follow a different route; ask the coordinator.
