Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Mo. Rev. Stat. 59.480 makes the recording of a discharge free and limits who may see or copy it; see the Missouri entry. The Recorder's page lists "discharges from armed services" among the office's records and excepts "service discharges" from its recording fee ($24 the first page and $3 each further page). It goes on: "Military Service Discharges are free to record and to receive copies or certified copies. To get a copy of a service discharge, the requesting individual has to fill out a request form, and have their signature notarized, before the Recorder of Deeds can look to see if there is a DD214 filed in the office and to run a copy or certified copy for the requesting party. There is no charge for filing the request, the notary can not charge for notarizing the request form and the copies generated by the Recorder of Deeds office are still free." The page says the request form is available on the site and in the office; no form link was posted when read, so ask the office for the Recorders Association of Missouri's notarized request. Where.
