Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Mo. Rev. Stat. 59.480 makes the recording of a discharge free and limits who may see or copy it; see the Missouri entry. The Recorder's page lists "File and maintain Military Discharge documents" among the office's services, and her fee schedule (with the $26 first page of Senate Bill 938, effective August 28, 2026) lists "Military Discharges" at "No Charge"; its "Federal Tax Lien Discharge $7.50" line is a tax lien release, not a military discharge. Her formatting standards list "Military separation papers" among the documents exempt from the formatting rules, so no $25 non-standard fee applies. Copies go only to the veteran or an authorized party on the Recorders Association of Missouri's notarized request; the page posts no form, so call the office. Where. Recorder of Deeds Ashley D.
