Deep River Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions

Deep River’s exemptions page describes the wartime, active-duty and disability programs and the D-2 annual filing without printing veteran amounts, and the town’s ordinance book carries the 1982 adoption of the 12-81f option without an amount.

Also called: property tax, 12-81g, veterans exemption, assessor, Deep River.

For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The assessor’s exemptions page describes the veterans’ exemption on the DD-214 or similar document filed with the Town Clerk, the active-duty letter filed annually by September 30 with one vehicle exempt and leased-vehicle forms, and disabled veterans’ proof of the VA rating, “provided annually during the assessment period to receive the appropriate exemption.” Veterans aged 65 or older who already qualify for a disability exemption may have it increased to the equivalent of a 100 percent rating on proof of age. No veteran amounts are printed; the page prints $1,000 for the totally disabled and $3,000 for the legally blind. For a 100 percent service-connected permanent and total rating the page requires the D-2 application “by January 1st annually along with proof of their 100% P&T status,” under Public Act 24-46. The page’s veteran and active duty brochure is a scan with no readable text. The town’s ordinance book, Section 12 (Taxation), carries “ADDITIONAL TAX EXEMPTION FOR VETERANS - RESOLVED: To adopt an act to allow certain veterans an additional exemption from property tax (Public Act 82-318),” adopted August 23, 1982 (Vol. 7, Pg. 59), which the book notes is now C.G.S. 12-81f. The ordinance sets no amount. OLR’s 2023 survey recorded Deep River as offering no municipal option.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
