Danvers Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions (Clauses 22 to 22F)

Danvers’s property-tax-relief page prints $823.20 under clause 22 and $2,058.00 under 22E, the statutes doubled and raised by the fiscal 2026 adjustment of 2.9 per cent, what clauses 22I and 22J at 100 per cent produce with a fiscal-2026 first application; its site serves a Cloudflare block, the page was read through the Internet Archive, and no vote was found, so the entry asks the assessors to confirm.

Also called: property tax, clause 22, 22E, veterans exemption, assessors, Danvers.

For: Veteran or service member, spouse, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Town of Danvers grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a town can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. www.danversma.gov serves a Cloudflare block page with no challenge to clear (issue #181), so the Board of Assessors, Veterans Services, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Property Tax Relief pages were read through the Internet Archive’s captures of March 25 to June 9, 2025, the newest the Archive holds. The Property Tax Relief page prints, for fiscal 2026, $823.20 under clause 22 for a veteran with a service-connected disability of 10 per cent or greater, and $2,058.00 under clause 22E for a veteran, including a spouse or surviving spouse, rated 100 per cent in the line of duty and unable to work: the statutes doubled, one year’s 2.9 per cent adjustment on the doubled figure. The page names no option and no vote was found in the town’s online records, so the entry asks the assessors to confirm, as Hingham’s does; the amounts are what clauses 22I and 22J at 100 per cent produce with a fiscal-2026 first application. The board’s page names John LaBelle the Chief Assessor with Phyllis DeChristoforo and Bruce Symmes the members, at 1 Sylvan Street in Town Hall (978-777-0001, extension 3055). The Veterans Services page names Kelley Rayos-Teixeira the Director of Veterans’ Services at 25 Stone Street, where the EOVS directory lists the same officer and gives 978-762-0208, extension 3025. The town’s Veterans of Foreign Wars page records VFW CW Davis Post 2359 at the Senior Center, 25 Stone Street. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through Danvers Veterans’ Services: Kelley Rayos-Teixeira, Director of Veterans’ Services. Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

A VA rating, a decoration, or a surviving relativeClause 22 reaches a veteran rated 10 percent or more, a Purple Heart recipient, a Gold Star parent and the spouse or unmarried surviving spouse; 22A to 22E turn on named losses, decorations, a 100 percent rating or specially adapted housing. The rating filter does not hide this entry, because several routes need no rating.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
