Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Dane County's Veterans Service Office is at 1709 Aberg Avenue, Suite 2, Madison WI 53704, phone (608) 266-4158, open Monday to Friday 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with walk-in hours on Wednesdays. The Director and CVSO is Dan Connery; the office lists nine staff, two assistant-VSO slots standing vacant, and it is VA-accredited through the American Legion, DAV, NACVSO, VFW and the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs. The county's own budget presentation calls it the "Highest volume County Veterans Service Office in WI" against a staffing benchmark of about 12.6 FTE; the 2027 request is $1,286,952, and the county counts $122.7 million in VA dollars flowing into the county. The commission. Dane County Code of Ordinances 15.37 creates the Dane County Veterans' Service Commission - five veteran members, the CVSO as executive secretary - with authority to furnish aid under the ch. 45 framework. The commission's emergency assistance pays partial rent and utilities directly to landlords and utility companies; its own report to the county board records $13,727.99 paid for 36 veterans in 2021 under budgets of $19,500 to $20,000 a year. Applications are not published as a form; a veteran starts at the office. The property tax credit. The state credit under 71.07(6e) is verified through the CVSO, as the State entry explains, so Dane veterans start at Aberg Avenue for the residency and eligibility certification. The register of deeds records discharges without charge - section 45.05 - and Dane publishes the practice: the ROD's discharge page offers free recording and free certified copies. The county's parks fees give veterans about half-price annual permits on nine permit types, and the office runs Vets Ride With Pride, free Metro FastFare passes for county veterans.
