Dalton Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions (Clauses 22 to 22F)

Dalton’s assessors post the Commonwealth’s Form 96-4 and a tax-information sheet that names no exemption amount, so this entry gives the statute’s; its veterans’ agent is the City of Pittsfield’s Mark E. Pompi, who holds monthly hours at the Dalton Senior Center.

Also called: property tax, clause 22, 22E, veterans exemption, assessors, Dalton.

For: Veteran or service member, spouse, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Town of Dalton grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a town can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. The Board of Assessors’ page names Lee Nunez (extension 207) and Sue Koziara (extension 205) the assessors and Tammy Daignault the Assessors’ Clerk (extension 206), at Town Hall, 462 Main Street (413-684-6111), and says both abatement and exemption requests are processed in the Assessors’ Office. The office posts the Commonwealth’s Form 96-4, revised December 2022 and headed DALTON, and a Town of Dalton FY2026 Tax Information sheet that reports the tax rate and filing deadlines and names no exemption amount; the town’s General Code sits on ecode360.com, which answers 403 to curl. No acceptance of clause 22I or 22J was found on the town’s site, so the figures here are the statute’s. The Veterans’ Agent page names Mark E. Pompi the Veterans Service Officer, "Director of Veterans Services Central Berkshire County including Dalton" (413-499-9435, [email protected]), with Brad Havill the Administrator/Investigator (413-499-9433, [email protected]), and says services for Dalton veterans are available the first Thursday of every month, 12 to 3 pm, at the Senior Center or by request, through the City of Pittsfield Veterans Services Department, with a Dalton Town Hall line at 413-684-6111, extension 202. The EOVS directory’s September 7, 2026 row lists Pompi at Town Hall, 462 Main Street, on Havill’s 413-499-9433; and the page’s flag-disposal note still names "Our Veterans Agent, Mitchell Keil", where the page’s own contact block and the directory name Pompi - ask the office which it keeps current. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through Dalton Veterans’ Agent: Mark E. Pompi, Director of Veterans Services, Central Berkshire County. Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
