Cuyahoga County Fiscal Officer: Disabled Veteran Homestead Exemption

Cuyahoga County's Fiscal Office takes the State's enhanced homestead application, DTE 105I, by December 31, and renews it without a new form. Its page describes the veteran as one with a 100% service-related disability and leaves out the individual unemployability route the statute gives.

Also called: homestead, property tax, DTE 105I, Fiscal Officer, unemployability, Board of Revision, DTE 106B.

For: Veteran or service member, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemption is the State's, under Revised Code 323.152(A)(2); see the Ohio entry. In Cuyahoga County the Fiscal Officer's Homestead Division takes it: 2079 East Ninth Street, Room 3-128, Cleveland (216-443-7420, option 5, [email protected]). Filing. File DTE 105I between January 1 and December 31 of the year the exemption is wanted, owning and living in the home on January 1. There is no income test for a disabled veteran. A late application can be made for the year before. Once granted, the exemption continues: the office mails a continuing application each year, to be returned only if something has changed. A denial or a short reduction can be appealed to the Board of Revision on DTE 106B. Where the page falls short. It lists a "Veteran who has been determined to have a total service-related disability of 100%". Section 323.151(F) also counts a veteran with "a total disability rating for compensation based on individual unemployability", so a veteran paid at 100% for unemployability with a lower schedular rating qualifies, and should file DTE 105I with the unemployability decision. The page's income table also gives a $29,000 exempt value for the 2026 senior and disability homestead, where the Department of Taxation's 2026 figure is $29,700; the disabled veteran figure, $59,400 for 2026, is not on the page at all.
