Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Cumberland County Veterans Treatment Court was set up in 2015 for "servicemen and women involved in the criminal justice system who also have mental/physical health issues, deal with substance abuse, or have PTSD". It gives a structured programme of counselling and help with employment, housing and benefits eligibility, with supervision and accountability; its motto is "leave no vet behind". The North Carolina Judicial Branch lists Cumberland among the counties with an operating veterans treatment court. The county publishes no written eligibility rules, so it states no discharge or rating test; the wording covers serving members as well as veterans. Ask the defence lawyer to seek a referral, or call the treatment court supervisor at 910-321-6409, 117 Dick Street, Fayetteville.
