Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Cumberland County publishes no veteran page anywhere on its site: the sitemap's 209 pages name no veteran, military or discharge subject, the county's Legistar agenda search answers "No records were found" for veteran across all years (the search itself works; budget returns 38 records), and the Board's posted minutes for the year carry no veteran item beyond a commissioner thanking veterans for their service at the November 2025 meeting. The county's registry of deeds publishes its recording requirements and fee schedule with no discharge line on either. The claims route the State publishes runs through the Bureau of Veterans' Services' Portland Field Office, located in this county at 151 Jetport Boulevard, Room 138W, Portland, ME 04102, phone (207) 822-2391, fax (207) 822-2393, email [email protected], office hours Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Bureau's locations page names service areas only where it says so, and Portland's is not one of them, so a Cumberland County veteran should call the office rather than assume it is theirs; the Bureau's itinerant locations also reach the county at Bridgton, Windham and Brunswick. The Bureau's service officers help veterans file claims for federal and state benefits, and the county inherits every State entry; what the county itself does for veterans that its own records show is nothing this round could find.
