Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemptions are the State's; see the Oklahoma entries. Article X, section 8E of the Oklahoma Constitution exempts the full fair cash value of the homestead of a veteran with a 100% permanent service-connected disability. In Comanche County the Assessor administers it from 315 SW. 5th St., Room 301, Lawton, OK 73501, phone (580) 355-1052 or (580) 585-6752, email [email protected], weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Assessor is Grant Edwards. What the Assessor says. Its dates page: "Disabled Veteran Exemption: Exempts full fair cash value of the homestead for 100% service connected permanently disabled Veterans. Veteran's award letter required. To Receive Exemptions For That Year: Deed must be executed before January 1st. Deeds must be filed by February 1st. You must live in the residence as of January 1st." Its forms page lists "Form 998 - Application for 100% Disabled Veterans Real Property Tax Exemption" and a "Military & Veterans Exemptions" sheet beside the homestead forms. What the page does not say. It does not name the household personal property exemption of section 8D, nor the line-of-duty spouse exemption of section 8F; the Oklahoma entries describe both. The homestead filing window it gives - January 2 to March 15 - is the ordinary homestead's; the veteran exemption is claimed on the same forms and the office confirms the deadline.
