Coleman County's Veterans page ("Thank You for Your Service"): "Coleman County Veterans are served by the Brown County Veterans Service Office, located at 1600 Burnet Drive in Brownwood, Texas 76801. Telephone (325) 646-0335. Fax (325) 646-2839. Email: [email protected], ask for James Masters. Brown County Veteran Services Office Walk-in Hours: Monday-Thursday: 0700-1400hrs; Friday: 0700-1300 (open during lunch hour). Call: 325.646.0335 to schedule an appointment before or after hours for special arrangements on Saturdays." Brown County's own page gives the street as Burnett Drive (see brown-tx-veterans-services). The office files VA and State claims under Government Code chapter 434 (see the Texas entry); a county of under 200,000 people is not required to keep its own officer. Local help the page lists. "File a VA Disability Claim, Check Status, or Ask Questions about the VA - Brown County Veterans Service Office"; "Request Financial Assistance for payment of rent or utilities - Center for Life Resources"; "Inquire about Veteran Benefits, Seek Counseling, Group Therapy, or just Get the help you need - Military Veteran Peer Services"; and Central Texas Opportunities, with "Two veterans programs: One that will help with utilities, fuel, rent/mortgage, car repairs; and, the other will help with home repair/modifications." The page also links the Texas Veterans Commission, TexVet, the Veterans Land Board, the Hazlewood Act page, and veterans service organizations. No county office. Coleman's 2026-2027 proposed budget carries a "Veterans Service Off" department (010-405) with nothing in it, as it had nothing in 2024, 2025 and 2026; no record read says whether Coleman County pays Brown County for the service. TexVet's county list has no Coleman County entry.
