Colebrook Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions

Colebrook’s tax relief page lists the state’s veteran programs and the town’s own municipal-option additional exemption, which OLR’s survey recorded at $10,000 with income limits of $74,100 married and $65,300 single.

Also called: property tax, 12-81g, veterans exemption, assessor, Colebrook.

For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The assessor page names Assessor Catherine C. Norton, CCMA I, and links a Tax Relief Programs page that lists, among the veterans’ programs, the basic veterans exemption (“90 day service during time of war, or discharge recorded prior to October 1, 1997; no application; file DD214 with Town Clerk”), the Application for Permanently and Totally Disabled Veteran 100% Service-Connected Disability Rating, the Application for Additional Veteran’s Exemption (M-59a), the town’s Application for Municipal Option Additional Veteran’s Exemption (M-59a), and the applications for the armed-forces and active-duty motor vehicle exemptions. Neither M-59a carries readable text; each is a scan. OLR’s 2023 survey recorded Colebrook’s wartime additional exemption (12-81f(a)) at $10,000 with income limits of $74,100 married and $65,300 single. Those limits are the town’s own - 12-81f lets a town set limits no lower than the 12-81l amount, which for the 2026 grand list is $46,300 single and $56,500 married. The M-59a applications are filed with the assessor in the state’s February 1 to October 1 period. The town’s General Code page links its code on eCode360 (CO4264), which stayed behind its Cloudflare challenge (dubiousenvelope/vettoc issue 168), so no adoption could be read from the code; the entry rests on the assessor’s page and the survey. Ask the assessor.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
