The Coconino County Recorder records a veteran's DD-214 free under A.R.S. 11-465, in person weekdays 8 to 5 at 110 E. Cherry Avenue, Flagstaff, or by mail, returns the original, and gives certified copies of a recorded DD-214 at no cost.

The duty is the State's, A.R.S. 11-465; see the Arizona entry. The Coconino County Recorder's Veteran Services handout: "The Arizona Revised Statute 11-465. Discharge papers of service personnel allow you to safeguard your discharge papers by filing them in the County Recorder' Office. This service is free of charge to you. The original documents or a Veteran's Administration certified copy may be filed Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. These documents can also be mailed to: Coconino County Recorder 110 E. Cherry Ave. Flagstaff, AZ 86001. When your papers have been recorded, the original documents will be returned to you. You may also obtain additional certified copies at no additional cost to you." Replacing a lost DD-214. If it was recorded with the county, "you may obtain a certified replacement copy from the Recorder at no cost to you", on the Recorder's Military Discharge (DD-214) Record Request form; otherwise ask the National Personnel Records Center. The Recorder's fee schedule lists "Military discharges - no charge".
