Clinton Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions (Clauses 22 to 22F)

Clinton’s Personal Exemptions page prints the statute’s $400 as the minimum of its clause 22 range - "Minimum $400 (most exemptions) Maximum full exemption" - with no option adopted, so this entry gives the statute’s; its Veterans’ Services Officer is the town’s own Brendan J. Bailey at Town Hall.

Also called: property tax, clause 22, 22E, veterans exemption, assessors, Clinton.

For: Veteran or service member, spouse, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Town of Clinton grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a town can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. The Board of Assessors’ page names David J. Baird, MAA, the Principal Assessor and chair and Tena Zapantis the member, with Dmytro Zakolodyazhnyy the Assistant Assessor, at Clinton Town Hall, 242 Church Street (978-365-4117, fax 978-365-4104), hours Monday to Friday 8 am to 4 pm. Its Personal Exemptions page, keyed to fiscal 2025, prints clause 22 as "Exemption Amount Granted: Minimum $400 (most exemptions) Maximum full exemption" for the veteran with at least a 10 percent service-connected disability, the VA certificate required, and posts no clause 22A to 22F amounts; the taxpayer has until March 31 of the fiscal year to file and may receive only one exemption, the one of the greatest benefit. No acceptance of clause 22I or 22J appears on the site, so the figures here are the statute’s; the page’s residence tests are the statute’s own, six months before entering service or two consecutive years before filing. The Veterans’ Services page names Brendan J. Bailey the Veterans’ Services Officer at Town Hall (978-365-4112, fax 978-365-4130) - the officer the EOVS directory’s September 7, 2026 Clinton row lists at the same address and number - and describes the department’s chapter 115 administration "in conjunction with the Massachusetts Department of Veterans’ Services" and its federal and state claims help through the VA and the department. The town’s Parks & Recreation account of Hamilton Square records the square’s WWI Monument as "donated and coordinated by the James R. Kirby American Legion Post 50". Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through Clinton Veterans’ Services: Brendan J. Bailey, Veterans’ Services Officer. Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
