Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Every Ohio commission must arrange regular transport to the VA medical centres serving the county (Revised Code 5901.03(H); see the Ohio entry). The Clermont County Veterans Service Office runs its own van, free, door to door, for VA medical appointments. Booking. Call 513-732-7471 five days before the appointment; if no one answers, leave a message and the transportation staff will call back with a pickup time. The driver phones the day before to confirm. No emergency appointments - call 911. Who rides. A Clermont County veteran "discharged honorably" with a DD-214 already on file in the office. A spouse or caregiver may ride if there is space, asked for when reserving. The van has no wheelchair lift, so a rider must get in and out unassisted. Seat belts are worn, and there is no eating, drinking or smoking. Rides run even on federal holidays, when the office itself is closed; no calls or messages over the weekend. A veteran with a general discharge should ask the office, since the statute sets no discharge test for transport.
