Clatsop County (Oregon) Clerk: recorded military discharges and the recording alert service
The Clatsop County Clerk's Records Division, 820 Exchange Street, Suite 220, Astoria (503-325-8511, fax 503-325-9307), weekdays 8:30 to 5, records military discharges among the documents it takes for public record, and since October 16, 2026 runs a free Property Recording Alert Service that emails same-day notices when a document is recorded under a monitored name - up to ten names per email address, at clatsop.co/records.
Also called: military discharge, DD-214, recording, recorder, Property Recording Alert Service, PRAS, fraud alert, Tracie Krevanko, County Clerk, 503-325-8511, 820 Exchange Street, Astoria, Warrenton, Seaside, Cannon Beach, Gearhart, Hammond, Knappa, Jewell, Olney, Seaside, Arch Cape.
The recording. The Records Division's page: "The division records the following documents for public record: deeds, mortgages, military discharges, marriage licenses, town and partition plat maps." County Clerk Tracie Krevanko; 820 Exchange Street, Suite 220, Astoria, OR 97103; (503) 325-8511, fax (503) 325-9307; Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The fee the office charges for a discharge copy is not printed on its pages, so the State's free-recording rule carries it (see the Oregon entries).
The alert service. The county's October 16, 2026 news release: "The Clatsop County Clerk's Office is launching a free Property Recording Alert Service (PRAS) on Friday, October 16, to help property owners monitor recorded documents and identify potentially fraudulent activity. The service sends automated email notifications when a new document is recorded with a name that a subscriber has registered to monitor." Subscribers get same-day alerts with a document number, can look up the type and title of newly recorded documents, and may monitor up to ten names per email address; only documents recorded after enrollment trigger alerts. Register free at clatsop.co/records. Clerk Krevanko: "This is another tool residents can use to stay informed about activity involving their property records." The service "is available at no additional cost to taxpayers and is funded through a portion of existing recording fees" - a veteran watching for fraudulent filings against the home can use it beside the recorded discharge.
