C-TRAN, the public transportation benefit area serving Clark County, issues the Heroes Pass, which "provides free, Local C-TRAN service throughout Clark County, including The Current, to qualifying veterans and active duty personnel". Proof. Bring one of these to any C-TRAN Customer Service Office: a VA photo ID card; a Common Access Card showing active status and branch; a retired military ID (with another photo ID if it has no photo); a state driver's licence showing the veteran or military designation (see the Washington entry on the licence designation); or a DD-214 with a state or federal photo ID. No minimum service, discharge type or rating is stated. Beyond local service. The pass is a Hop Card, so value loaded onto it pays for C-TRAN Regional and Express buses, TriMet and the Portland Streetcar at their normal fares. Register it at MyHopCard.com to protect it if lost. The county's Veterans Assistance Fund manual points veterans to the Heroes Pass before it pays for transport.
