Clark County Auditor: Disabled Veteran Homestead Exemption

The Auditor takes the State's disabled veteran homestead application, DTE 105I, and its homestead post names the individual unemployability route, but its figures are the tax year 2024 ones ($56,000) and the live site answers a Cloudflare challenge; the commissioners passed on the 319.304 local option, citing the county's low inside millage.

Also called: homestead, property tax, DTE 105I, county auditor, Hillary Hamilton, unemployability, 323.152, 100%, local option, 319.304.

For: Veteran or service member, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemption is the State's, under Revised Code 323.152(A)(2); see the Ohio entry. File DTE 105I, with a copy of the DD-214 and the VA award letter, with the Clark County Auditor, Hillary Hamilton, 31 North Limestone Street, Springfield (937-521-1860; the homestead desk is 937-521-1862), after January 1 and by December 31 of the year the exemption is wanted. There is no income test for the disabled veteran exemption. The page. The Auditor's homestead posts could be read only in the Internet Archive's capture of May 21, 2025: the live auditor site, clarkcountyauditor.org, answers a Cloudflare "Just a moment" challenge to both curl and headless Chrome. The archived post says a disabled veteran applies on DTE 105I with the DD-214 and an award letter, and names the individual unemployability route - "100% total disability rating or 100% Compensation Rating with individual unemployability" - and that surviving spouses may also be eligible. But it prints $56,000 as the disabled veteran's shield, which was the tax year 2024 figure; the Department of Taxation's figure is $58,000 for tax year 2025 and $59,400 for tax year 2026 real property, the year now being filed. The $40,000 income limit on the same page belongs to the means-tested senior and disability homestead and does not apply to a disabled veteran. The local option. House Bill 96 let each board of county commissioners add a county homestead credit equal to the State one, without State reimbursement (Revised Code 319.304). Nothing in the commissioners' October 2025 to October 2026 agendas and journals adopts it, and Auditor Hamilton told the Springfield News-Sun in July 2026 that "due to the county's low inside millage rate, we were not moving forward with the additional exemption at the time."
