Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemption is the State's; the Washington entry explains it. The Clallam County Assessor administers it in Port Angeles. What the page says. Applicants must be 61 by December 31 of the assessment year, retired because of a disability, or "Meet other qualifying disability requirements under Washington State law", own and occupy the home and meet the income test. For taxes collected in 2026 the levels are $33,000, $40,000 and $46,000. "Beginning with the 2027 tax year" they rise to $47,000, $55,000 and $63,000, with an optional standard deduction of "$7,500 for a single person" or "$15,000 for a married couple or domestic partners". Level 1 then exempts the greater of $80,000 or 80% of assessed value; Level 2 the greater of $70,000 or 45%, up to $200,000; Level 3 the State school levy and excess levies; and every level is exempt from the whole State school levy from 2027. The veteran route the page leaves out. Chapter 200, Laws of 2025 lets a veteran with a combined service-connected evaluation of 40% or more, or a total disability rating at any percentage (which reaches a veteran paid for individual unemployability), qualify at any age for taxes collected from 2027; before that the floor was 80%. The Department of Revenue's deferral threshold for Clallam is $70,326.
