Citrus County Clerk: Military Discharges Are Recorded but Not Posted Online

The Citrus County Clerk records military discharges but, under Florida Statute 28.2221(5)(a), does not post them online; view or obtain them in person at the Clerk's office.

Also called: DD-214, DD214, clerk, discharge papers, 28.2221, restricted, Inverness.

For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The rules are the State's; the Florida entry on discharge recording explains them. The Citrus County Clerk's official-records page states: "Pursuant to Florida Statute 28.2221 (5)(a) the Clerk is not authorized to post records on this site pertaining to military discharges, death certificates, or court records pertaining to Family, Juvenile, or Probate matters. If you wish to view a restricted image (with the exception of military discharges), you may do so in person at the Clerk's office" - so military discharges are the one restricted class not even viewable in person from the online index; ask the Clerk. The fee guide fetched is a JavaScript calculator with no DD-214 line; under Florida law the recording is free.
