The service. The DAV van leaves the Veterans Service Office at 6:30 a.m. for scheduled morning appointments at the Cheyenne VA Medical Center on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Call the office, 308-254-3300, at least one day ahead; the van runs only when someone is scheduled, depends on volunteer drivers and the winter weather, and serves morning appointments only. The office recruits volunteer drivers through the DAV Transportation Network and schedules them months ahead. In April 2026 the office reported "the same consistent 4-5 riders" to Cheyenne. The new van. The Veterans Service Office Board reported in July 2025 that a new van would cost $56,000, half of it the county's share, and listed donations; by January 2026 it counted $3,000 from the DAV, $10,000 in private donations, $12,928 of other funding and $22,948 from the office. The Commissioners' claims of January 20, 2026 paid "Disable American Veterans" $22,928.00 from the Veteran's Aid Fund, whose 2025-2026 budget had set $21,250.00 for a van. By April 2026 the van had been ordered and paid for, to be driven from Kentucky to Sidney.
