The county Department of Corrections’ inmate programs include VA Counseling: a representative from the Veterans Administration meets with incarcerated veterans to discuss reintegration planning.
Also called: VA Counseling, Department of Corrections, jail, incarcerated veterans, reintegration.
The Cheshire County Department of Corrections publishes its inmate programs list with this entry: "VA Counseling - Program provides a representative from the Veterans Administration to meet with incarcerated veterans to discuss reintegration planning."
That is the county's only published jail-veteran practice; the program names no officer, caseload or schedule. The county runs no veterans office (its enforcement-agency links page points residents to the state's New Hampshire Veterans Services, 1-800-562-3127), the county's treatment-court page describes a felony substance-use docket team with no veterans track - matching the state judiciary's blank Cheshire veterans-track cell - and neither the 2025 nor the 2026 adopted budget carries a veteran line item. The closest other veteran record in the year read is a UNH Cooperative Extension report to the commissioners on December 17, 2025 about "a program that provided $20,000 in 2025 to local veterans to purchase local healthy food," whose funding source the minutes do not state.
