What the fund holds. Fund 1900, Veterans Aid Fund-Cherry Co, held $4,350.88 on July 1, 2023, 2024 and 2025 and paid nothing in 2023-2024, 2024-2025 or 2025-2026; it levies no tax and earns no interest in the budget. The 2026-2027 budget again budgets the whole $4,350.88 as "Veterans Aid Costs", and the Treasurer's semi-annual reports show no receipt or payment through June 30, 2026. What the page says. The Veterans' Service Office lists the County Veterans' Aid Fund "to meet immediate emergency financial needs" and prints no eligibility test. Section 80-102 lets the county veterans service committee aid a veteran, a spouse, a surviving spouse or a minor child in need; since LB1300 (Laws 2024, section 45) the veteran need only have served, been discharged honorable or general (under honorable conditions) or died in service, and lived a year in Nebraska and six months in the county. Apply through the Veterans' Service Office, (402) 376-2680 (see that entry); see the Nebraska entry on the county fund for the committee's discretion and the State's own aid fund.
