Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Where to apply. Chase County posts no aid page; the fund is administered under section 80-102 through the Veterans Service Office, (308) 882-5017 (see that entry). Since LB1300 (Laws 2024, section 45) the statute reaches a veteran discharged honorable or general (under honorable conditions), or who died in service, who has lived a year in Nebraska and six months in the county, and a spouse, surviving spouse or minor child in need, with no wartime-service test. What the fund holds and pays. The 2026-2027 budget's Veterans Aid Fund (1900) held $3,583.49 on July 1, 2024, paid nothing in 2024-2025, held the same on July 1, 2025, and paid $701.22 in 2025-2026 - the August 12, 2025 claims paid it to Duane Todd from the fund - leaving $2,882.27 on July 1, 2026; it has no levy and no receipts. The 2026-2027 budget offers $1,500.00 of travel, $500.00 of provisions and clothing and $882.27 of miscellaneous aid. At the August 11, 2026 budget workshop the Board lowered the fund's beginning balance by the year's spending and changed nothing else. Other money if needed. On June 24, 2025 the officer asked why the fund's relief budget had been cut from $6,000 to $3,600; the commissioners answered that it had not been used for many years, that its medical and hospital line had been moved into the miscellaneous line, and that "should he have need of those funds, other funding is available". See the Nebraska entry on the county fund for the committee's discretion and the State's own aid fund.
