The programme. Veteran Services' Transportation page: "Carver County Veteran Services will provide Carver County veterans free rides to the Minneapolis VA Medical Center (VAMC), the Shakopee VA Community Based Outreach Clinic (CBOC), and the St. Paul Regional Office's Compensation & Pension (C&P) Examination Clinic. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide rides to other clinics in the metro area that offer C&P examinations." The Board's October 20, 2026 agenda describes it as door-to-door: "we pick them up from their doorstep, bring them to the hospital/clinic and then bring them back home to their doorstep."
The rules. Minneapolis VA appointments between 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., Monday to Thursday; Shakopee appointments between 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Wednesdays; none on federal or county holidays. Staffing. On October 20, 2026 the Board's consent agenda (Board action 2026-879) proposed replacing the 0.80 FTE driver post with two 0.40 FTE posts and adding 0.17 FTE of short-term on-call driving from December 4, 2026, budget-neutral, so that rides are not cancelled when a driver is out.
