Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The vouchers. The Community Development Agency's report to the Board's work session of July 28, 2026: "Of the CDA rentals, 160 units have Project Based Vouchers: Of that total: 9 are designated for the unhoused population. 10 are designated for homeless veterans. 20 are designated for mainstream (between the ages of 18 and 61 and disabled)." The CDA manages 735 affordable family and senior units across the county (Chaska, Chanhassen, Waconia, Watertown, Carver, Mayer and Norwood Young America among them). A project-based voucher stays with the unit, so the tenant pays a share of income as rent while living there. The 2020 project. The county's news archive (January 13, 2020): "A creative collaboration between Carver County, the Carver County Community Development Agency, the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans and community leaders brings four units of veterans housing to the County." The report also notes that the CDA will end its participation in the federal Permanent Supportive Housing programme in July 2027, a separate programme for homeless people with disabilities. How to apply. Ask the CDA (Chaska) which buildings hold the veteran vouchers and how to join the list, or ask Veteran Services, which helps veterans facing homelessness regardless of discharge.
