Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Mo. Rev. Stat. 59.480 makes the recording of a discharge free and limits who may see or copy it; see the Missouri entry. The Recorder's page: "The Recorder's Office also handles marriage licenses and we record military discharge papers at no charge," and, under Military Discharges, "Military discharges are recorded at no cost. The original DD-214 must be presented." The fee schedule effective August 28, 2026 has no discharge line (its "Federal Tax Lien Discharge $7.50" is a tax lien release, not a military discharge). Copies go only to the veteran or an authorized party on the Recorders Association of Missouri's notarized request; the page posts no form, so ask the office. Where.
