Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exclusion is the State's (G.S. 105-277.1C); the North Carolina entry carries the amount and the rules. The Assessor's Property Tax Relief brochure: "A permanent resident of Caldwell County who is either (1) an Honorably Discharged Disabled Veteran, or (2) an unmarried surviving spouse of an Honorably Discharged Disabled Veteran. A Disabled Veteran is a Veteran who either (1) has a 100% permanent total disability that is service-connected or (2) receives benefits for specially adapted housing under 38 U.S.C. 2101." The veteran brings a "Veteran's Disability Certification, which may be in the form of the VA Award Letter or a separate letter from the VA or other federal agency"; a specially adapted housing recipient brings the VA's proof; a surviving spouse proves the veteran qualified at death. The Tax Office's forms page carries the AV-9 application and the State's NCDVA-9 certification. When. "Applications should be filed during the regular listing period, January 1 through January 31, but may be timely filed through June 1. Applications received after June 1 are considered untimely." What the brochure leaves out. It does not give the $45,000 amount, and its income limits for the elderly and disabled exclusion and the circuit breaker are the 2025 figures ($37,900 and $56,850), which do not apply to the veteran but show the brochure has not been updated for 2026. The statute's permanent and total rating can be paid through unemployability; ask if yours is. Where. Caldwell County Assessor's Office, 905 West Avenue NW, Lenoir, NC 28645 (mail P.O.
