Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Cabell County's own government runs no veterans service office - the county site has no veterans department, and text searches across its pages return nothing - so the veterans service function is the West Virginia Department of Veterans Assistance's Huntington Claim Office, at 640 4th Avenue, Room 158, Huntington, WV 25701, phone (304) 399-9395, fax (304) 399-9363. Its claims office supervisor is Joe Diedrich, with service officers Robert Pauley and Collin Elliott and veterans service officer assistant Mattie Stanley. The department's services are free to the veteran. Discharge papers. The county clerk's Record Room, 750 5th Avenue, Courthouse Suite 108, Huntington, (304) 526-9820, [email protected], keeps military discharges as "Restricted Access" records - the clerk's own page says all its records "are a matter of public record, with the exception of military discharges". Recording the original is free under Code 7-1-3LL, and Code 59-1-10(a)(5) sets "No charge for a service discharge record" on the statewide clerk fee schedule; the clerk's site publishes no fee line for discharges at all, so ask before assuming anything about certified copies. The county commission's records for the year read - twenty-eight minutes and seventy-nine agendas from September 2025 to October 2026 - contain zero veteran mentions of any kind. The county's ten published ordinance categories contain no veteran provision, and the county is not in the Municode library. Cabell County is the Sixth Judicial Circuit, and its adult drug court carries a veterans treatment court track - see the county's veterans treatment court entry.
