What the county lists. The Veterans Services page lists "County Veterans Aid" among the office's services; apply through the Veterans Service Office, 402-367-7472. What the fund holds. Fund 1900, Veteran's Aid, levies no tax and lives on its balance: it held $27,213.92 on July 1, 2023, paid $2,800.00 of medical and hospital aid in 2023-2024 and nothing in 2024-2025, and held $24,413.92 on July 1, 2025, all of it budgeted for 2025-2026. The claims of February 17, 2026 paid "Butler County Veteran's Service Comm. replenish funds" $3,000.00, the only Veteran's Aid claim in the lists read, and the 2026-2027 hearing notice shows that $3,000.00 as the year's spending and budgets the remaining $21,413.92 for 2026-2027, again with no tax. No posted record shows how the committee pays from its account. Who qualifies. Section 80-102 lets the county veterans service committee aid a veteran, a spouse, a surviving spouse or a minor child in need. Since LB1300 (Laws 2024, section 45) the veteran need only have served, been discharged honorable or general (under honorable conditions) or died in service, and lived a year in Nebraska and six months in the county; there is no wartime test. See the Nebraska entry on the county fund for the committee's discretion and the State's own aid fund.
