Burlington Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions

Burlington’s assessor posts a local additional veterans’ application and the state M-59a without amounts, and OLR’s survey recorded a $20,000 local option at a $63,490 income.

Also called: property tax, 12-81g, veterans exemption, assessor, Burlington.

For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The assessor’s forms page carries a “Local Additional Veterans’ Application,” headed 2024 Grand List with a filing period of February 1 through October 1, whose assessor-use section leaves the “Amount local exemption” for the office to enter, and the state’s M-59a “State Additional Veterans’ Application.” Neither prints an amount. The page also carries the D-2 100 Permanently and Totally Disabled application, two Motor Vehicle Property Tax Exemption - Active Duty Military forms, and an Ambulatory Vehicle Form. OLR’s 2023 survey recorded Burlington as offering the additional exemption of 12-81f for wartime service and 30-year retirees at $20,000, with a qualifying income of $63,490 - the same figure for single and married applicants. Burlington answered the survey; its own applications print no amount, so confirm the figure with the assessor. The town had been blocked, its burlingtonct.gov timing out and redirecting to portal.ct.gov/dph, in the sixth round (dubiousenvelope/vettoc issue 194) and answered plain curl again on the day of this round.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
