Brazoria County's Veterans Service Office helps veterans and families file VA claims, free, by appointment in Angleton and on Wednesdays in Pearland, arranges rides to VA appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and hosts Vet Center counselling on Fridays. Its page still dates the Vietnam era for in-country service from 1961, where the PACT Act moved it to November 1, 1955.

The Brazoria County Veterans Service Office is the county veterans service office under Government Code 434.032; see the Texas entry. Its mission is to advocate for the county's veterans and their eligible dependents in getting federal, state and local benefits.
What it does. Helps veterans get their discharge papers (DD-214s) and apply for service-connected compensation, pension and death pension; helps surviving spouses apply for Dependency and Indemnity Compensation, CHAMPVA and Survivor Benefit Plan payments; gives VA health care enrolment applications; helps with burial benefits, flags and markers; guides dependents on VA and State education benefits; and gives information on the VA home loan certificate of eligibility and on property tax relief.
Rides and counselling. The office coordinates transportation to VA medical centre appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays with ActionS, Inc. of Brazoria County, and hosts Vet Center counselling on Fridays.
Where. Angleton, by appointment only: 237 E. Locust Street, Room 105, in the new Administration Building. Pearland, Wednesdays only: 2341 N. Galveston Avenue, next to the Pearland tax office. Phone 979-864-1289. The Veterans Service Director and Veteran Service Officer is Joe "JC" Cumpian, with an assistant service officer, Kelsey Travis; the Commissioners Court confirmed a service officer appointment on October 14, 2025.
A stale date. The office's list of wartime periods gives the Vietnam era as August 5, 1964, or February 28, 1961 for veterans who served in Vietnam, to June 7, 1975. VA's period ends on May 7, 1975, and the PACT Act of 2022 moved the start for service in the Republic of Vietnam to November 1, 1955, so a veteran who served there between 1955 and 1961 has wartime service for pension and other purposes.
