What it is. An Arkansas county veterans service officer is employed by the county judge and paid from the Quorum Court's budget, trained and accredited through the Department of Veterans Affairs, and partly reimbursed by the State under section 20-81-106: one dollar for every two the county spends, up to $3,600 a year, or $4,800 in a county with more than 2,500 veterans, plus $500 a quarter each for VA accreditation and for access to VA's benefits system; see the Arkansas entry on the Department and county service officers. Help with a claim is free. The Veterans Association's page on the office: it "serves to aid the veterans of the community write and submit benefit claims with the VA. As well as helping to gather information to support your claim. Once this claim is filed, the on site officer will aid you in tracking the process of the claim through the system." Who and when. The Department of Veterans Affairs' county finder (last updated August 19, 2026) lists James Williams at 210 N. Main St., Warren, AR 71671, (870) 226-3888, [email protected], Monday and Tuesday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Veterans Association's contact page gives the officer's number as (870) 226-3888 and his hours as Monday and Tuesday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with lunch from 11:45 to 12:45; the museum itself (870-226-2329) keeps longer hours. The Eagle Democrat reported in March 2024 that County Judge Klay McKinney appointed Williams, a retired Arkansas Army National Guard sergeant first class who had been a Department service officer in Hope, to succeed Dorothy Anders after more than 20 years, with his office "located in the Bradley County Veterans Museum at 210 North Main Street". Bradley is in the Department's District 5, whose District Veterans Service Officer is Sue Harper in Monticello, (870) 623-6900. The Quorum Court. No minutes or budget are posted online, so the office's appropriation is not published. The veterans court. None: the Tenth Circuit's plan for 2026 names drug courts only, and the Judiciary's veterans treatment court map does not shade Bradley.
