The officer. Boyd County's Veterans Services page lists Holt County's Veterans Service Officer, Ken Stenka, and office manager Mick McIntire at the Holt County office, 410 E. Benton Street, O'Neill, 402-336-1200, weekdays 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (see the Holt County office entry, which also serves Boyd County). What the fund holds and pays. Boyd County's filed 2025-2026 budget's Veterans' Aid fund (1900) held $18,378.88 on July 1, 2023, paid $4,089.75 of veterans' aid in 2023-2024, held $14,291.83 on July 1, 2024, paid nothing in 2024-2025, and held $14,294.53 on July 1, 2025, its only receipts $2.70 a year in lieu of tax; the county levies nothing for it. The 2025-2026 budget offers the whole $14,294.53 as veterans' aid costs. The Board of Supervisors' claims show what it pays for: $1,750.00 to the Skyline Motel for a room from the "Soldiers and Sailors Relief Fund" on November 25, 2025, and $1,250.00 to the Skyline Motel from the Veterans Aid Fund on March 24, 2026. Who qualifies. Boyd County's page prints no aid text. Section 80-102 lets the county veterans service committee aid a veteran, a spouse, a surviving spouse or a minor child in need; since LB1300 (Laws 2024, section 45) the veteran need only have served, been discharged honorable or general (under honorable conditions) or died in service, and lived a year in Nebraska and six months in the county. Ask the Holt County office, 402-336-1200; see the Nebraska entry on the county fund for the committee's discretion and the State's own aid fund.
