Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Colorado's counties each run a veterans service office; see the Colorado entry. Boulder County's: "The Boulder County Veteran Service Officers (VSOs) are veteran advocates. We work with veterans and their families on general resource navigation and to determine eligibility on benefits", including disability compensation claims, appeals "including denials", survivor benefit enrolment, VA education, VA health care enrolment and burial benefits. "Our services are provided at no charge. There are no income eligibility requirements." Contact. 303-441-3890, [email protected]; mailing address 3482 Broadway, Boulder, CO 80304; the county's office map lists a Veterans Office at 515 Coffman St., Longmont. Appointments (quick question, intake or follow-up) are booked online. Veterans Financial Assistance. The office's guidelines (updated September 11, 2025): "one-time, emergency financial support to veterans who are experiencing short-term financial hardship and lack the resources to meet essential needs", for "housing, utilities, dental care, in-home services, moving and cleaning, vehicle repairs, and transportation", paid "directly to the creditor or vendor". It does not pay property tax, mortgage payments, rent or lease deposits, the full cost of major medical bills or funerals, or capital improvements. A DD-214 is required (some fund sources restrict by discharge), and the veteran or dependant must live in Colorado (Boulder County only if the budget is cut). The State's Veteran Assistance Grant funds it, so underserved veterans come first, including women, rural, justice-involved, LGBTQ+, minority and Native American veterans and those 65 and over; a waitlist forms when money runs out. Stand Down. With partners the office holds a Veterans Stand Down and Resource Fair (October 29, 2026, American Legion Post 32, 315 S. Bowen St., Longmont), with transport through Mobility for All, 720-564-2218, and publishes a 2026-2027 Veterans Resource Guide.
