Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemption is the State's, under Section 170 of the Kentucky Constitution and KRS 132.810; the Kentucky entry explains it and the amount ("The current exemption amount is $49,100", as the PVA's homestead page puts it). The Boone County PVA's disability page sets out how it reads the veteran route: "Veterans: If you are a veteran who has been declared at least 70% service related disabled, you could also qualify. The only thing different is that we would need to have documentation from veteran's affairs showing your percentage of disability and the effective date. Please provide a valid driver's license or state ID and application just like the process mentioned above. Note: you would still have needed to own and occupied your own primary residence as of Jan. 1." The general rule. The owner must own and occupy the home as a permanent residence, be classified as totally disabled under a federal or other retirement programme on January 1 and through December 31, and be receiving the disability payments. "The exemption amount typically saves you about $500, unless your tax bill is for less than that amount." How. Mail the application, ID and original documentation to the Office of the Boone County PVA, writing "Disability Exemption" on the envelope, or e-mail the completed form to [email protected] with its name in the subject line.
