Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Idaho law requires no county veterans service officer, and claims help mostly comes from the State's Division of Veterans Services (see the Idaho entries), but Bonner County runs its own office. Its page: "Our office is manned Monday through Thursday 0800 till 1600. And Friday Admin may be in the office. Walk-ins are not Encouraged, please call 208-255-5291 to make an appointment with our VSO. Our office is closed all Federal Holidays. We are not the Veterans Administration. We are Bonner County, and we advocate for our Veterans with all three branches of the VA (Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Benefits Administration, and National Cemetery Administration)." What it does. Service-connected disability compensation, the VA pension, Dependency and Indemnity Compensation, the survivors' pension, medical, burial, vocational rehabilitation, education and home loan benefits, the Idaho War Veterans Emergency Grant (the State's emergency relief grant, applied for through the office), correspondence with VA, service medical records and personnel files, replacement medals, and referrals to the Vet Center for readjustment counselling and to the VA medical centre's alcohol and drug programme. Its FAQ: "The Veterans Service Office is a county office and has no federal funding from the VA." Where and who. 521 South Division Avenue, Suite 121, Sandpoint, ID 83864; 208-255-5291, fax 208-255-2554; [email protected]. Veteran Service Officer Thomas Lindley ([email protected]). Bring the DD-214 (before 1951, the AGO Form 53-55); the office can help replace a lost one. Its events page lists VA and community events, and the officer asks to be told of others.
