The assessor’s Common Assessment Exemptions sheet gives regular veterans a $3,000 reduction on a DD-214 filed with the Town Clerk by September 30, and $6,000 for low income. Disabled and severely disabled veterans receive $6,000 to $10,500 off assessment with a VA rating of 10 to 100 percent, and the state additional (low income) veterans’ column gives $12,000 to $21,000 with a rating of 10 to 100 percent, for income up to $45,200 single or $55,100 married; the sheet’s footnote 2 adds that a veteran rated 100 percent has a maximum adjusted gross income of $18,000 single or $21,000 married, Social Security not counted. Those ranges exceed the amounts 12-81(19) and (20) and 12-81g provide in the 2026 Supplement; ask the assessor how the town computes them. The local additional (low income) veterans’ column gives $10,000 off assessment for income of $43,800, single or married. Code § 18-8, amended April 11, 2016, gives a veteran entitled under C.G.S. 12-81(19) and a surviving spouse entitled under 12-81(22) an additional exemption of up to $10,000 of assessed value from the October 1, 2016 assessment year, on meeting 12-81f’s requirements; the income limit is the town’s own. Code § 18-9, amended January 14, 2019, exempts in full the dwelling house and lot of a veteran who received federal specially adapted housing assistance, under 12-81(21)(C), applied for within thirty days of the October 1 assessment date. The assessor’s page adds that veterans with a 100 percent permanent and total service-connected rating should contact the office about the legislation effective October 1, 2024, which is the 12-81(83) dwelling exemption. OLR’s 2023 survey recorded Bloomfield as offering the 12-81f wartime option at $10,000 with the state limits, the specially adapted house option and the 12-81h vehicle option.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
