Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The officer. Blaine County's Veterans Services page lists Custer County's Veterans Service Officer, Emory Haynes, 431 South 10th, Broken Bow, NE 68822, 308-872-2071 (see the Custer County office entry, which also serves Blaine County). What the fund holds and pays. Blaine County's filed 2025-2026 budget's Veterans Aid fund (1900) held $5,646.81 at the start of 2023-2024, 2024-2025 and 2025-2026: it had no receipts and paid nothing in either year, against $5,646.81 budgeted for emergency relief in 2024-2025, and the county levies nothing for it. The 2025-2026 budget again sets the whole $5,646.81 for emergency relief. The county posts no Board minutes, so no aid claim can be read. Who qualifies. Blaine County posts no aid text. Section 80-102 lets the county veterans service committee aid a veteran, a spouse, a surviving spouse or a minor child in need; since LB1300 (Laws 2024, section 45) the veteran need only have served, been discharged honorable or general (under honorable conditions) or died in service, and lived a year in Nebraska and six months in the county. Apply through the Custer County office, 308-872-2071, or ask the County Clerk in Brewster, (308) 547-2222, extension 201; see the Nebraska entry on the county fund for the committee's discretion and the State's own aid fund.
