Also called: property tax, 12-81g, veterans exemption, assessor, Bethlehem.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The assessor page says the office “administers a variety of tax relief programs for the elderly home owners, veterans, totally disabled and the blind who meet certain requirements,” and posts the M-59a Application for AdVets. The form is the state’s and prints no town amounts. The office’s press release for the elderly homeowners program (February 2022) says “Requirements are similar for the local ordinance providing an option for additional benefits. Income guidelines for the local option are a maximum of $51,698 for a married couple and $51,618 for a single person.” Those are the 2021 grand list’s guidelines, alongside the release’s elderly income limits of $46,400 married and $38,100 single; ask the assessor for the current limits and the amount of the local option, which no readable source prints. The town’s code is on eCode360 (BE1777), which stayed behind its Cloudflare challenge (dubiousenvelope/vettoc issue 168). Bethlehem did not answer OLR’s 2023 survey.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
