Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The tax relief page’s veterans table prints: the state-standard program at $1,000 on an honorable discharge filed on or before September 30; the state-additional program, half of the standard exemption, on an honorable discharge filed on or before September 30; the State-Limited Income row, “Standard Veterans Exemption Doubled” $2,000 to $6,000, filed February 1 to October 1 biennially at income of $45,200 single or $55,100 married; the state disabled program at $2,000 to $3,500 on VA Form 20-5455 filed annually; a Bethel-limited income program at “$10,000 or 10%” with income of $70,200 single or $80,100 married, filed February 1 to October 1 biennially; a 100 percent disabled program at the $18,000 single and $21,000 married limits whose standard veterans exemption is doubled, to $7,000; and a Bethel disabled specially equipped veterans car at one motor vehicle registered in the veteran’s name, filed annually February 1 to October 1. OLR’s 2023 survey recorded Bethel as offering 12-81g(b), the tripling, but the page applies the 12-81g(a) doubling at the $18,000 and $21,000 limits. The entry records the page; ask the assessor which applies. The income limits the table prints for the State-Limited Income row, $45,200 single and $55,100 married, are the state’s 2025 grand-list limits, one year behind the 2026 grand list’s $46,300 single and $56,500 married. The Bethel-limited row’s $70,200 single and $80,100 married are those same 2025 grand-list state limits plus $25,000 - OLR’s survey recorded Bethel’s 12-81f at $65,300 single and $74,100 married, the 2023 limits plus the same $25,000 - so the limit moves with the state’s and is one edition behind too, $71,300 single and $81,500 married at the 2026 limits. The page notes income and age requirements are based on the calendar year preceding the filing dates, and names tax benefit coordinator John C. Sarver as its contact.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
