Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Mo. Rev. Stat. 59.480 makes the recording of a discharge free and limits who may see or copy it; see the Missouri entry. The Recorder's page: "Recording Military Discharge Records (DD214) This is a free service and any copies of the recorded instrument are also free." The page posts no request form; the Recorders Association of Missouri form (the veteran's identifiers, the requester's authority, a notary's signature) is what the statute's rules call for. Fees. The fee schedule effective August 28, 2026 prices real estate pages, plats, surveys, copies, certifications, marriage licences and IRS tax liens; its $7.50 "Discharge" line sits in the tax liens block and is the lien release, not a DD-214.
