Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Bennington County has no county government of its own; the state's county offices are the elected State's Attorney and the sheriff. The State's Attorney's staff list on the Department of State's Attorneys and Sheriffs' site - State's Attorney Erica Marthage, five deputies, a paralegal and two victim advocates at 200 Veterans Memorial Drive, Suite 10, Bennington - names no veteran role (the street address, Veterans Memorial Drive, is the county seat's memorial boulevard, not a veterans office). The sheriff's department (Sheriff James Gulley Jr., 811 US Route 7 South, Bennington) publishes its own site with its uniform, court, transport, civil, administrative and investigative divisions and community programmes, and names no veteran programme anywhere on it; its employment page's only veteran mention is an equal-opportunity-employer sentence. The claims route the State publishes is the Office of Veterans Affairs' certified service officers, who serve every county from Montpelier by appointment at 802-828-1082; the Office is at 118 State Street, Montpelier, (802) 828-3379, toll free in Vermont (888) 666-9844, office hours Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Office also verifies eligibility for the disabled veteran property tax exemption, applied for through the Office and not through any local office. For a Bennington County veteran in crisis, the Office's own crisis page names the 24-hour local lines closest to the county: Bennington, (802) 440-3300, and Manchester, (802) 362-3950, alongside 988 then 1, 911 and 211. No veterans treatment docket sits in the county: the Judiciary's current list carries no veterans track anywhere in the state.
