Belmont County (Ohio) Auditor: Disabled Veteran Homestead Exemption

The Belmont County Auditor, Cindi Henry, 101 West Main Street, St. Clairsville (740-699-2130), takes the State's disabled veteran homestead credit on DTE 105I, due December 31; its forms page posts the 10/19 revision, which still prints the old $50,000 figure, where the State figure is $59,400 for tax year 2026, and the county has not adopted the local-option homestead.

Also called: homestead exemption, disabled veteran, surviving spouse, DTE 105I, property tax, December 31, unemployability, auditor, Cindi Henry, $59,400, House Bill 479, St. Clairsville, Martins Ferry, Bellaire, Barnesville, Bridgeport, Shadyside, Powhatan Point, Flushing, Morristown, Belmont, Bethesda, Yorkville, Brookside, Neffs, Lansing.

For: Veteran or service member, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The credit is the State's (Revised Code 323.151 and 323.152; see the Ohio entry for the current amount, the unemployability route, the surviving spouse rule, the December 31 filing date and the one-time House Bill 479 share). What the Auditor posts. Belmont County's Auditor publishes no page on the exemption; its forms page lists "DTE 105I - Homestead Exemption Application For Disabled Veterans and Surviving", which is the Department of Taxation's revision 10/19: file "on or before December 31", and "The applicant must be 100% disabled by or be receiving 100% compensation for service-connected injuries on January 1". It asks for the DD-214 and the award letter showing 100%, or, for individual unemployability, the letter showing compensation at 100% and the approval of the unemployability claim. The 10/19 form is still the Department's current one; as the Ohio entry explains, its $50,000 figure and narrow surviving spouse wording predate House Bill 33 and the 2024 change. For tax year 2026 the credit is the tax on $59,400 of market value. To share in the House Bill 479 relief on the bills of early 2027, a newly qualified veteran should be approved before the State's November 1, 2026 count. The Commissioners' minutes of September 2025 to October 2026 show no local-option homestead exemption under Revised Code 319.304. The office.
