Beaver County Supportive Services for Veteran Families
Beaver County's Community Services and Community Development programs pass the region's Supportive Services for Veteran Families grant through to local partners: on April 23, 2026 the commissioners approved $66,400 agreements with Lawrence County Social Services for regional veteran services programming and with The Cornerstone of Beaver County for SSVF case management, both 100 percent federally funded.
Also called: SSVF, Supportive Services for Veteran Families, veteran families, homelessness prevention, rapid rehousing, Cornerstone, Lawrence County Social Services, Community Development.
Supportive Services for Veteran Families is the Department of Veterans Affairs' grant programme that funds outreach and case management to keep very low-income veteran families housed, paying security deposits, rent arrears and moving costs through a grantee's network. In this corner of Pennsylvania the regional grantee is Lawrence County Social Services, Inc., and Beaver County is the pass-through: its commissioners sign the sub-agreements that bring the money into the county.
The agreements. On April 23, 2026 the Board approved two, each running January 1 to September 30, 2026 at $66,400, "100% funded": Resolution 042326-09, an agreement between the county, through its Community Services Program, and Lawrence County Social Services "enhancing the quality of life by eliminating and preventing the causes and effects of poverty through the Regional Veteran Services Programming"; and Resolution 042326-10, a consulting agreement between the county, through its Community Development Program, and The Cornerstone of Beaver County, "providing supportive services for veteran families". The county puts in no general funds; its contribution is the administration and the local contract.
How. A veteran family at risk of homelessness in Beaver County contacts The Cornerstone of Beaver County, which delivers the SSVF case management, or asks the county's Community Development Program. The agreements are short-term grant-year contracts, so the amounts, the period and the partners change with each award; the county site's older records, which would show prior years, sit in the login-only mySCView portal (see the file's header). For cash assistance toward necessities, the separate State programme is Veterans' Temporary Assistance, whose applications the county Veterans Affairs office completes.
