Beaufort County Tax Assessor: the Exclusion Routes

The Beaufort County Tax Assessor, under Kenny Watson at 220 N Market Street, Washington (252-946-7981), receives and processes applications for tax exemptions, exclusions and deferments - the office the State's disabled veteran exclusion and elderly or disabled exclusion routes run through.

Also called: Tax Assessor, Kenny Watson, exemptions, exclusions, deferments, disabled veteran exclusion, elderly or disabled exclusion, circuit breaker, 105-277.1C, 105-277.1, 252-946-7981, 220 N Market Street, Washington, Bath, Belhaven, Chocowinity, Aurora, Pantego.

For: Veteran or service member, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exclusions are the State's; see the North Carolina entries on G.S. 105-277.1 (the elderly or disabled exclusion) and G.S. 105-277.1C (the disabled veteran exclusion) for the amounts and eligibility. What the county's office adds is the route: the Tax Assessor's page lists among the things the office does "Receives and processes applications for tax exemptions, exclusions, and deferments", beside appraising all taxable real and personal property, calculating and creating "all real and personal property taxes for all taxing jurisdictions within Beaufort County" and processing motor vehicle tax refunds and prorations. The page publishes no veteran text of its own - no amount, form or deadline - so the exclusion rests on the statute and the State's routes, and a veteran applies at the assessor's office. The office's important dates: listing forms or extensions are due by January 31st (or the next business day), listings with an extension by April 15th, and most property tax bills go out mid to late August. The Tax Assessor is Kenny Watson; the office is at 220 N Market Street, Washington, NC 27889; (252) 946-7981, fax (252) 940-6152.
