Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Mo. Rev. Stat. 59.480 makes the recording of a discharge free and limits who may see or copy it; see the Missouri entry. The Recorder's page lists "Military Discharges" among what the office assists with, and its FAQ lists "Military service discharges" among the records on file. The same FAQ says "These are public records, so generally, individuals can obtain them", which is true of land records but not of a discharge: under section 59.480 a recorded discharge and its copies go only to the veteran or an authorized party on the Recorders Association of Missouri's notarized request, and recording and copies are free. The page's fee list ($26 first page, $3 each further page) is for land documents. Where.
