Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The relief fund is the State's (MCL 35.21 and the Michigan entry on county veterans relief); what Barry's page adds is where to take it. "Emergency assistance is available through the Soldiers & Sailors Relief Fund to qualifying honorably discharged, indigent soldiers, sailors, marines, nurses, members of women's auxiliaries and the indigent wives, widows, and minor children of such indigent or deceased soldier. Assistance is also available through the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund." Both routes run through the county's Department of Veterans Affairs at the United Way building, 231 S. Broadway, Hastings (269-945-1296); the Trust Fund's own programme page (michiganveterans.com) carries the state-level rules the State entry describes. The page links the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund's emergency-assistance page directly and the county's "Emergency Assistance" resource group.
